In R-Books, Raúl López García displaces painting into the territory of the book, transforming it into a symbolic object and a space of inscription. These are not illustrations nor traditionally altered books, but hybrid entities where writing, matter, and pictorial gesture intertwine.

Each R-Book functions as a condensed archive. The pages do not narrate linearly; they sediment. Fragments, natural materials, and graphic marks configure surfaces in which the sign becomes matter and matter becomes language. The book ceases to be a container of meaning and becomes a symbolic body.

The series explores the metamorphosis of knowledge: how the word transforms into image, how textual memory is reinscribed into visual structure. Inspired by poets and thinkers, these objects do not illustrate their texts; they activate their resonance. Literature appears as originating impulse, yet it is transmuted into form.

In this process, the book ceases to be document and becomes territory. Each piece is unique not merely in material terms, but because it embodies an unrepeatable moment of symbolic reinscription.
